Pupils in the UK are starting to return to schools after staying at home these past months due to the current pandemic. But this return is not the same as the other ones in the previous years: there are changes to keep the students safe.

Staggered lunchtimes, virtual assemblies, and a one-way system are examples of the changes taken this academic year. One of the biggest changes are the timetables as until November, pupils will learn one subject a day to minimize class changes around the school.

For the face masks, it will mandatory in all secondary schools in local lockdown areas to wear it in school corridors from the beginning of September. For other areas that are not in a local lockdown, the headteacher can decide if the pupils will need to wear a face mask or not. For common areas, pupils will require to wear a mask when social distancing is not possible.

The Scottish government says all pupils over the age of 12 should wear face coverings in corridors and communal areas, with the exception of classrooms. Meanwhile, in Wales, the schools and councils have the responsibility to decide face masks’ rules.

Despite all of these changes, there is nothing that stops pupils from getting career planning and guidance during this undecisive time. Learn more about CAREERPLAN Here
